Classificação do cancro da mama

O cancro da mama é classificado segundo a classificação dos tumores malignos (TNM). Este sistema descreve a extensão anatómica da doença, baseando-se na avaliação de três componentes:

• Tumor primitivo (T)
• Presença e extensão de metástases nos gânglios linfáticos regionais (N)
• Presença de metástases à distância (M)

Tumor primitivo

Relativamente ao tumor primitivo, este pode ser TX quando não pode ser avaliado, T0 quando não existe evidência de tumor primitivo, Tis carcinoma in situ e T1, T2, T3, T4 função progressiva do tamanho e/ou extensão local do tumor primitivo.

Gânglios linfáticos regionais

Relativamente aos gânglios linfáticos regionais, NX quando os gânglios não podem ser avaliados, NO quando não existem metástases a nível gânglionar e N1, N2 e N3 função progressiva do envolvimento dos gânglios linfáticos regionais.

Metástases à distância

Relativamente às metástases à distância, MX se a presença de metástases à distância não pode ser avaliada, MO na ausência de metástases à distância e M1 na presença de metástases à distância.
