    Bruxism is a disorder characterized by the involuntary clenching and grinding of teeth, too hard on the chewing musculature.

    This causes a great wear and tear of the teeth, which can affect its integrity and compromise oral health.

  • Can bruxism affect only adults or also children?

    Bruxism is a disorder that can affect both adults and children.

  • What are the symptoms of malocclusion/bruxism?

    The main symptoms of malocclusion or bruxism problems are:

    • headaches
    • discomfort in the temporomandibular joint
    • pain in the facial muscles and ears
    • shoulder stiffness
    • limitation of mouth opening movements
    • and sleep disturbances.
  • What does it mean to have a malocclusion?

    What defines malocclusion is having upper jaw teeth that do not articulate perfectly with lower jaw teeth.

  • How can it be treated?

    There are several treatments available:

    • use of mouth guards
    • orthodontic braces
    • selective dental wear, among others.
